WRITING

Give me a keyboard and I can write about anything you need me to: sports, movies, events, horror … (and, yes, I can especially write about Star Wars). Whether it is for a website that paid me or for a website that I created (or for a few in between), I find comfort, ease and freedom in front of a blank word doc.

My Muck Rack journalist portfolio, with individual updating links of my online articles, can be found here.

STAR WARS ENCYCLOPEDIA OF STARFIGHTERS AND OTHER VEHICLES

This fall, my second Star Wars book will be released. DK’s Star Wars Encyclopedia of Starfighters and Other Vehicles is a middle-grade book that focuses on the ships and speeders of the saga.

It was an absolute joy to write (solo, this time) and I can’t wait to talk about it more when it is published.

“This updated edition covers more than 230 vehicles from Star Wars movies and TV series, now including The Rise of Skywalker, The Mandalorian, Young Jedi Adventures, and more! From enormous Sith Star Destroyers to Kylo Ren’s TIE whisper to Din Djarin’s shiny N-1 starfighter, learn all about your favorite modes of transportation from a galaxy far, far away, featuring more than 70 new vehicles.

Easy to navigate, with contents broken down by categories like land, sea, air, and space, and packed with informative stats regarding manufacturers, models, dimensions, and so much more, the Star Wars: Encyclopedia of Starfighters and Other Vehicles has it all. Fans of all ages, get ready to buckle up and zoom away with this in-depth guide to the best and most popular rides!”

STAR WARS ENCYCLOPEDIA

Last fall, my first Star Wars book officially hit the shelves. DK’s Star Wars Encyclopedia is a gorgeous tome that I am so grateful to have contributed to.

Alongside a team of other very talented authors, I spent Summer 2023 working through hundreds of entries to update the book in line with all the great shows and movies that had come out over the past 5 years.

“Containing more than 2,200 entries from the most current Star Wars film and TV series, discover the vital facts about iconic characters, creatures, locations, vehicles, and technology from a galaxy far, far away….

Produced in close collaboration with Lucasfilm, this official title is the most comprehensive reference book of the Star Wars galaxy on the market. Meticulously researched, expertly written, and stunningly illustrated, the Star Wars Encyclopedia is an indispensable guide to that devoted fans and newcomers alike will return to time and again.”

STARWARS.COM

I have been lucky to contribute to the official Star Wars website (dubbed internally as simply “Dot Com”) since 2022. My editors have been outstanding, and I have enjoyed the quick turnaround work required for immediate online publication.

My pieces have been varied, from model makers to the latest Marvel comics to on-the-ground reporting of the latest Star Wars Celebration panel in London.

Star Wars Insider

I grew up picking up Star Wars Insider, the official Star Wars magazine, off the grocery store shelf. It’s how I gained a further appreciation for Industrial Light & Magic, and the people behind the movies. It’s how I first learned about Indiana Jones (Issue #54!). I still have every copy, tucked away neatly on my bookshelf.

So it is an understatement to say that it is a dream come true when, beginning in 2021, I saw my name (and my face!) in those same magazine pages. From my initial pitch to now, I am so proud of over 25 articles that have been currently published. It is an extension of the work that I have done with Talking Bay 94, but honed and crafted even more. From in-depth features with the men inside Jabba the Hutt to interviewing entire art departments to upcoming oral histories, each piece has been an incredibly rewarding challenge.

The full articles, featuring my interviews with Drew Struzan, Timothy Zahn and more, can be found at a protected drive. Please email me for that drive.

Some excerpts that have appeared on Star Wars Dot Com can be found below.

FANGORIA

It has been an enormous honor to be asked back to contribute to FANGORIA. As you can see from the links below, I’ve had some awesome opportunities with them, which will only continue … (Spoiler Alert: pick up the latest spring issue, on shelves now)!

The team is doing a fantastic job and, any time I can see my words in Fango, it is a huge honor.

SUper Kaiju: POP CULTURE NEWS

Eventually I got tired of pitches never getting answered and checks never coming, so I decided to just do it myself. Until joining the Fango team, I ran Super Kaiju, a Dallas-based pop culture and events site, alongside Jason Kauzlarich, who I worked with first at Splash Media.

Over the three years, we did some incredible things together that I am very proud of, including covering San Diego Comic Con, becoming accredited members of the Dallas film press, and partnering with Mondo and the Alamo Drafthouse.

This site, done solely in our spare time after work hours, was what initially got us introduced to the FANGORIA teams, and I will be forever grateful for that.

BLEEDING COOL

This was the first step that kick-started everything else.

I reached out to the British-based comic book website (one of the largest comic book publications in the world), pitching coverage of large events in Texas that they were not able to cover due to geography.

From Dallas to Austin to San Diego, I have broken huge stories, interviewed big names and garnered enough experience and attention to finally set out on my own (see: Super Kaiju).

SB NATION (GOod bull Hunting)

For the longest time in college, I wanted to write for SB Nation’s Texas A&M blog, Good Bull Hunting. The humor, the wit and the heart was right up my alley but, since I worked in the athletics department, I legally couldn’t (thanks to the NCAA).

However, a week after I graduated, I joined the team of passionate Texas A&M fans.

I loved writing for them, as well as running their Instagram account.
